Genre is linked most closely to your exigence, once you understand what your exigence is, you must figure out how you want to disseminate through your choice of media and define what your purpose of the project is. Throughout the course we explored many genre and their conventions both through reading about them and writing them ourselves. Some of the different genres we explored was the scientific narrative vs the scientific article, both have the same purpose of educating the audience on a scientific topic but do so differently. We also explored blogs, pamphlets, factsheets, fliers and presentations which all have different requirements when it comes to formatting and language. For example, the conventions for a factsheet where informations need to be short and understandable at a quick glance differs from a blog post where it can be much more cluttered and have more substance because of the different conventions around each type of media.
