• To understand my writing goals I first need to understand the genre I am writing in and the rhetorical situation. The goals I set for myself rely on the genre and conventions that I am writing in because each have different goals. For example, a fact sheet need to be short and concise so my that is my goal in creating one. Similarly a PowerPoint presentation has short lines and facts on each slide but I need to be able to explain each bullet point clearly and be able to answer question about the topic. Although a factsheet and PowerPoint are similar in structure, I have different expectations on what I will be doing when giving it to the audience.
