CLO#6

“Formulate and articulate a stance through and in your writing”

  • Through the course we learned that your stance as a lot to do with your exigence, media, audience and purpose. These aspects of the rhetorical situation must be taken into account when we formulate our stance on a topic because we need to appeal to our audience and if the media and genre we are using should even have out stance included.
  • depending on the media and genre out stance may not be included in the final product. An informative review for instance is mean’t to show both sides to an argument or topic and allow for the reader to create their own opinion on the topic, which would require the author to mute their stance for the sake of the reader. On the other hand, a blog can be almost be completely based around your opinion and stance in a topic and try to persuade the audience into thinking the same way as you.
  • Through the semester I learned that you stance needs to be definite, either you include your stance in the article or not, and you must understand if its appropriate to include your stance or not in the article.
